F9 saw a resurgence in the box office worldwide as it managed to put in a performance of $500 million. Now, another major release, Black Widow is just a day away from hitting the big screens. Interestingly, even before its release, the Scarlett Johansson starrer has surpassed the Vin Diesel-led Fast Saga. Curious what we’re talking about? Well, scroll below to find out.
Black Widow is slated for a July 9 release in the United States. It featured several red carpet fan events on June 29, in cities such as London and Los Angeles. It saw rave reviews pour in from viewers, taking the pre-release buzz to the next level. The signs of excitement are evident as it has gone beyond ticket sales F9 and A Quiet Place, Part II, which are two of the biggest problems during the post-pandemic era.
According to Fandango (online movie ticket booking website), the pre-bookings suggest Black Widow will make the biggest start to the post-Covid era, in the US. What’s even more surprising is that presale is higher than Spider-Man: Homecoming and Doctor Strange.
Erik Davis (Managing Editor of Fandango) said: “This (Black Widow) action-packed film delivers on every level, giving fans the immersive, summery big-screen blockbuster they’ve come to expect from Marvel Studios, along with a compelling storyline, captivating humor and a memorable cast of characters, including exciting newcomers to the MCU,” reports Variety.
Scarlett Johansson’s superhero film is set to hit approximately 4,100 theaters across North America. It is expected to start over the weekend of $75 to $85 million, and cross the $100 million mark in the first 5 to 6 days. In China, an important film market, the release date is not yet known. At the same time, the film will also premiere on Disney Plus.
