There were already some things that were nice to enter The flash season 7, episode 17, whether it’s status as the 150th episode or bringing Barry’s kids on board from the kids.
Now why not go ahead and mention the return of another famous speedster in Jay Garrick! Obviously, Barry and Iris determine that stopping the Godspeed War will be a situation where it will be all hands on deck, and they will need people like Jay to get the job done. We’re always happy to see him, especially as John Wesley Shipp is such a throwback in his own right The flash of yesteryear.
These last two episodes of the season feel as much of a celebration of the show as some kind of enclosed arc; in another world you could argue that they could have served as the end of the series. Think about it: we see the future children of Barry and Iris, the return of Cisco, a very well-known comic book foe, and a chance to remind ourselves of the importance of Jay Garrick. There are lots of throwbacks and Easter eggs scattered about – what’s not to like about this?
Of course, we still can’t rule out the possibility of seeing an epic cliffhanger at the end of Season 7 that warrants more – perhaps an even more notorious enemy is present shaking up the show more than ever before. It’s possible for a character to die, just as there’s a chance we could see another person or teen from the past before everything ends. The writers are keeping their plans for season 8 a secret… not that this should come as a shock.
Oh, and did we mention Iris could regain her temporary speedster powers for at least part of the finale?
